Kyle Lin's got his American dream all planned out—ace all the tests, have extracurricular activities, graduate valedictorian, get accepted into all the top colleges…and hopefully get the girl of his dreams, who just so happens to be his best friend’s girlfriend. His grandfather, who thinks of him as a pathetic failure despite his impressive GPA, has other plans for him and drags him on a trip to Asia to learn about the world outside his classroom walls. There Kyle meets Tai, the rudest, most combative girl he’s ever come across, and after a sure punch in the face, Kyle finds himself whisked away to a world of dragons, goddesses, immortals, and demons. As if that weren’t enough, he’s trapped there with Tai, a girl that clearly hates his guts.To get back home to their own world, Kyle and Tai must learn qi script, the ability to change Chinese calligraphy into tangible power, and figure out how to put up with each other as they go on a quest to the Phoenix Mountain to defeat a legendary demon. The Legend of Phoenix Mountain will take you on an action-packed adventure full of martial arts, teenage drama, and what it really takes to grow up.
Author's Personal Anecdote:
I wrote this novel after a lifetime of watching way too many kung fu movies. Having grown up with Jet Li and Jackie Chan films, I still watch every good kung fu movie I can get my hands on. I love this story genre so much that I just had to make one for myself, and that’s how The Legend of Phoenix Mountain was written. It would be a dream come true if someone made a movie or a video game out of this story because that would just add one more kung fu movie for me to watch!
